Review of The Dirty Picture

The Dirty Picture is not that dirty as the name sounds. Its based on a true story of Silk Smitha who was a Indian vamp artist; worked mostly in south Indian movies. Vidya plays the role of Silk Smitha in the movie and her character is also named Silk in the movie.

Reshma (Vidya Balan) is an ambitious, bold and confident lady who wants to work in the Indian film industry. She goes for a dance shoot and there she is spotted by a director who gives her a name Silk. She instantly gives the name Kida Singh (Rajesh Sharma) to him saying that “Silk to kide hi banate hain”. She has her first item number with her childhood favorite actor, Suryakant (Naseeruddin Shah). Since she is working with her favorite actor for the first time; she gets nervous and is not able to give a good shot. Suryakant gets angry and leaves the place. Silk follows him and seduces him; finally they shoot the song. After that Silk and Suryakant keep meeting and keep having bedroom encounters; she becomes his dirty secret. One night when they are about to make out Suryakant’s wife comes in looking for him and Silk immediately goes inside the bathroom and hides there. That time she realizes that for Suryakant she is nothing more than a girl for pleasure in bed. Heartbroken with this fact Silk leaves the house and has an encounter with Suryakant’s brother Ramakant (Tushar Kapoor). After sometime they become good friends and eventually he becomes the new found love interest in Silk’s life. A love affair with him also comes to an end when in a party Silk has a face-off with her new competitor. Ramakant is shocked with this behavior of Silk and he ends his relationship with her. After this break up, Silk’s life becomes problematic; she has no roles, no job and she is facing a financial crisis. Also Silk has few people in her life who dislike her; first is a journalist Naina (Anju Mahendru) who keeps writing bad things about her and tries to spoil her image. And then there is this director Abraham (Emran Hashmi) who feels movies don’t work with cheap skin show and hates Silk to his core of heart for doing cheap skin show in movies. But eventually Abraham is also attracted to Silk and starts loving her. One night he goes to her and spends the whole night with her; talking about her life, her past and then he confronts to her that he has started liking her. Silk’s financial problems have become larger than life and in order to earn money she goes to a director where she realizes that he makes porn movies. Before he could shoot her movie there is a police raid and Silk escapes from the place. Depression and the feeling that no one understood her; even her mother closed the door on her face; for some she was a dirty secret; the person who said he loved her also didn’t stand by her side and with all these thoughts she commits suicide. Before dying she bids a goodbye to Abraham. By the time Abraham realizes and reaches her house she is dead and that is where the story ends.

Vidya has given a power packed performance in the movie. She has played the character of Silk wonderfully. Other actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Tushar Kapoor and Emran Hashmi have also played their roles well but the whole movie is over taken by Vidya and after the movie I am sure everyone will remember Vidya’s character.

The best thing about the movie is the dialog written by Rajat Aroraa. Niharika Khan is the costume designer who has beautifully given that 70s look in the movie. The movie has been directed by Milan Luthria and as a director he has done justice to the movie. The songs of the movie are good.

A good movie to watch and enjoy. Good to see that Vidya has got away from the league of size zero. Over all my rating is 3/5.

Review of Rajneeti

Rajneeti can be seen as the modern Mahabharata where the fight for power is shown. Everything is fair in love and war; Rajneeti has the same theme. Everything is fair in the modern politics. Saama, daana, dand, bhed are not enough to win the fight and where to win even love can become a game. That’s the theme of the movie.

Ranbir Kapoor has shown that he can be a good actor even in a serious role. Manoj Bajpayee, Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar as usual have done a good job. Infact it was good to see Manoj Bajpayee doing some meaningful role after a long time. Arjun Rampal for a change has done justice with his part. Nikhila Trikha who plays the role of Ranbir’s mother in the movie needs to work a lot on her acting skills. That Bihari accent was missing in her dialogue delivery. Shruti Seth is a wonderful TV actress and her acting talent in the movie is appreciable. The foreign actress, Sarah Thompson, is the love interest of Ranbir in the movie and in her part she has done a good job. Katrina Kaif as usual looks beautiful in the movie and played her part well. I wont say Naseeruddin Shah has done a magnificent job maybe because he is there for only a small portion of the movie but he is good in that small portion also.

Now as I have already stated earlier Rajneeti is modern Mahabharata so here is a comparison of the cast:-

• Ranbir Kapoor is Arjun in the movie
• Arjun Rampal can be compared with Yudishthir
• Manoj Bajpayee has been portrayed as Duryodhan
• Ajay Devgan is the danveer Karn
• Best is Nana Patekar who plays Krishna in the movie

The music of the movie is already in the chart busters and personally I likeMora Piya and Bheegi Si Bhagi Si songs a lot.

Even though the star cast is strong and everyone has played their part well somewhere I did not really enjoy the movie. Especially second half has a lot of violence and brutal killings. My overall rating for the movie would be 3/5.

Review of Delhi Belly

Delhi Belly is a complete time pass movie; dont think that the movie has some great story to offer to the audience. Its an average movie with A rated dialog and scenes. Few scenes are pretty disgusting and the Indian audience might not like them. For those scenes only one thought comes in my mind is that when a girl is walking down the round some guy making comment is still fine but if he touches her then that is disgusting.

Even though its a bollywood movie the movie is made in english with a touch of hindi here and there in the movie. The actors look pretty comfortable with the english lingo for delivering their speeches.

Tashi (Imran Khan), Nitin (Kunal Roy Kapoor) and Arup (Vir Das) are 3 room mates staying in a one bedroom house at Delhi. The movie starts with the problem of water which most Indians are still facing till date; the water comes for few hours in the morning and most of the time these three miss to fill the water. Sonia (Sehnaz Treasurywala) is Tashi’s girlfriend and asks him to meet her parents for marriage. The rich parents of Sonia give a car as a gift to Tashi. Then there is another common man’s problem of rent for which Nitin finds a solution which will not just help him solving the rent problem but also earn some good money. Tashi is a journalist and Nitin is a photographer who works with him; there is one more person working with these 2, Menaka (Poorna Jagannathan). Menaka is a kind of person who works hard in the day and has fun at evening. Menaka has a crazy husband (Rahul Singh) with whom she is having a divorce in sometime.

Let me come to the main plot of the movie which starts with a packet which is given to Sonia by Vladimir Dragunsky (Kim Bodnia) to be delivered to Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz). She gives the packet to Tashi and he gives the packet to Nitin; Nitin gives the packet to Arup and finally Arup makes the delivery to Somayajulu. But what Somayajulu receives in the packet is not something which was given by Vladimir. And then there is a cyclone; aandhi in the lives of the 3 roommates because of the content of that one packet. How the cyclone gets over is what is Delhi Belly all about.

Vir Das, Kunal Roy Kapoor, Poorna Jagannathan, Vijay Raaz and the person who plays the right hand of Vijay Raaz have done a really good job in the movie. Imran Khan is still fine acting wise but Shenaz Treasurywala is irritating in the movie.

Songs of the movie are already rocking the chartbusters. Each song whether its D K Bose, Switty, Jaa Chudail, Nakkadwale Disco have their own individual flavor. But Bedardi Raja is a surprise element for me; a soft number sung beautifully. Last but not the least is the item song done by Aamir Khan especially for this movie along with Anusha and that is I hate you (like I love you)

The direction team and the editing team has made sure that the flow of the movie is good and the audience doesn’t get bored with the movie even though the movie doesn’t have a very strong story base.

Sometimes some shits are dangerous but they can turn a person lucky. To know how watch the movie. My ratings would be 2.5 for the movie; sadly I don’t find a wow factor in the movie.

Review of Cheeni Kum

A movie worth watching atleast once. The movie has very beautifully shown that age doesn't matter for being in love or live life or to die.

The story is about Bhudha(Amitabh Bachan) and Neena(Tabu). Bhudha is a 64 years old man and Neena is 38 years old woman. Both are single. Bhudha has a mother(Zohra Sehgal) and staying in London. Neena is having a father(Paresh Rawal) and they stay at delhi but Neena has gone to London for work. Neena's father is of age 58 years and Bhudha is 6 years older than him. And then there is a small girl in Bhudha's neighbourhood, Sexy((Swini Khera), who is having cancer and will die soon.

Bhudha is a shef whereas Neena is a LIC agent. Bhudha is very proud of his restaurant. Neena comes to his restaurant and orders Heydrabadi Jafrani Pulao which by mistake becomes sweet and returns it back to the kitchen. When Bhudha sees his dish has not been taken he is very angry and goes out and asks Neena has she ever been into kitchen. Neena doesn't say anything then but next day makes the pulao and brings it to the restaurant. Nice attitude I must say.

After Bhudha comes to know that really someone has done a mistake. He asks about the cook and fires him. When Neena comes to know about it, she says to Bhudha if the food is good everyone appreciates you but if it is bad the blame goes to the person who made it. Isnt he responsible for the mistake. I hope i dont need to explain what does this want to say.

Well I am not going describe each and every scene. For those who have watched the movie know the story and for those who haven't dont worry I am just sharing some things which I liked.

Neena comes to Bhudha's restaurant everyday everyday. But one day she doesn't come and Bhudha is depressed that she didn't come. When Sexy sees Bhudha sad she tells him that he should be happy sad and not sad sad because the person who made him sad he feels happy when he sees that person. A nice thought.

After sometime Bhudha and Neena fall in love. Love is not dependent on age and it can happen any time. No love story is complete without a problem and the problem in this movie is Neena's father. His age is 58 years. Staying in India and having a typical Indian mentality. When Bhudha tells him that he wants marry Neena. Neena's father gets angry. He asks Neena to stay away from him. But he is shocked to know that Neena also loves Bhudha. Well he starts giving reasons like how long will he live just think and he is too old. Neena says that her mother also left him after 10-12 years but still they were happy and so the important thing is to be happy with someone for 5-6 years rather than staying with someone and be sad. And then she says him rudely I am just telling you and not asking for permission. He says I will die then she says when is that date coming so that she can marry Bhudha.

When Neena's father sees nothing is working for him and he cant make his daughter understand, he goes on a hunger strike. Now both Bhudha and Neena dont know how to make him understand that they really love each other. Anyways I will tell the things Bhudha said to him. Bhudha's mother had gone to Haridwar. And now she is back and comes to know the problem. They both go to Neena's place. There Bhudha asks his problem. Then he says are you jealous of me coz I am more active than you. And he says does age stop someone from living. One can feel young till the age he wants. With I can say one thing at 25 also if one starts thinking like a 50 year old person one will feel old. And then he says in 2 minutes I can marry your daughter but she loves you. She will not marry me but then she wont marry anyone else also. Spend her whole life alone. He says you are worried about your daughter but dont see what makes happy. He leaves the place.

Forgot to tell you there is a pillar and if the person is able to hold the pillar with both hands by keeping the back touching the pillar thier wish is fulfilled. Bhudha goes to that place after he leaves Neena's house and with the help of his mother he is able to hold that pillar. He gets a good news that Neena's father has agreed for thier marriage. But after sometime he gets the bad news that Sexy died. Age also doesn't see age. She is a kid but still dies. He feels very low and is crying. Neena comes to know the news and says when we feel heavy we cry and these tears make us light and take away the memories. Well finally Neena and Bhudha are together.

One more thing Bhudha has a little long hairs so long that he can tie them. When he goes to Delhi to meet Neena's father he cuts his hair and becomes a proper man. Sometimes we have to do somethings to impress someone. Well it may look stupid but still we do it.

I had many learnings from the movie. I hope those who wathced also had learnings. I have only told my learning from the movies. Those who have not watched can go and watch and if really interested can give some thought. I really appreciate the dialogue writer. Some lines are really good and mostly given to female characters.

Review of Life in a metro

Well lets start with Shilpa and K K Menon. Well typical married life. Have stayed for 9 years and nothing interesting is happening in thier life. So K K Menon finds this sweet, bubbly, full of life girl Kangana Renaut and falls for her. Staying with her he forgets the problems of house and office and enjoys her company.

Next we come to Shilpa who gets attracted to Shiney and starts spending time with him. She likes his company but at the end she leaves him. Well I think she took a right decision by leaving him. Shiney's character has been shown as a loser. Gets angry at small things but cant do anything. Well when he is in a play and someones mobile rings he is angry. Being for short time he would curb his angry and be in a good mood with Shilpa. But when it comes to staying together maybe these small things can tense him and he might complain to Shilpa. Doing it once is fine but what if he does it everyday. And Shilpa will come with her daughter we should not forget and maybe at a later point of time he can say anything about her. And here she knows K K Menon for 9 years and this time much better. And so its better to stay with someone whom you know for long than going for someone you have met recently. And K K Menon loves his daughter. When she got sick he took her to hospital and when he and Shilpa had a fight on the anniversary day then also he talks politely to his daughter. And atleast she can guarantee this that he will keep loving her daughter. And both of them love each other but somewhere they are bored with each other and so they are attracted to someone else.

Now lets come to Kangana. Well she has to settle in life and she cant be in relation with her boss forever. And now she is fed up of hiding and meeting him. When she asks him to her along with him and says that she wants someone who cares for her. He says fine make a boy freind because K K Menon is with her only for relaxation. And Kangana gets fed up and after this she wants to kill herself. But here comes someone who cares for her without any reason. Atleast she doesnt know the reason that he likes her. When K K Menon comes to know about Shilpa liking someone else. His ego is hurt and so he decides to leave her. And goes to Kangana. He tells about Sherman leaving the job and the reason which he finds stupid as he thinks Sherman is looking only for money. But sometimes in love money deosnt matter. And when Kangana comes to know he left his job because of her. She knows how important the job is for him and she realises that he likes her even after knowing about her. So going to him is a good idea.

Well next is Kangana whose story i couldn't understand. Waiting for 30 years and marrying someone like Irfan. Well atleast i didnt find Irfan that interesting. But maybe she was fed up of finding guys. And spending time with him she got attracted to him. And maybe she had come to an age where she thought now stop finding someone and get married to someone.

And at last i seriously could not get Dharmji and Nafisa Ali story. So wont say anything. People did justice to the role they were given and songs are definitely good. Every song has its own meaning. Will give the description tomorrow. And Kangana and Sherman have done a good job. Sherman has shown that he can do serious roles also. And Kangana's new look is good. I liked it.

Review of 7 Khoon Maaf

7 Khoon Maaf is the latest attempt made by Vishal Bhardwaj. The movie is based on a short story written by Ruskin Bond 'Susanna's Seven Husbands'. The theme of the movie is about a lady killing 6 husbands she marries in her journey of finding love in her life but always ending for a wrong guy. It can be put in the category of dark movies.

Priyanka as Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes plays the role of protagonist who is in search of love. Priyanka’s husband are played by Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irfan Khan, Aleksandr Dyachenko, Annu Kapoor and Naseerudin Shah in the same sequence. Arun played by Vivaan Shah narrates the story of Susanna to his wife played by Konkana Sen. He explains how and why Susanna keeps killing her husband. There are 3 people in the movie who help Susanna in killing her husbands and they are played by Usha Uthup, Shashi Malviya and the third person I am not able to find out his name.

Overall the movie is too slow and the songs look unnecessary. Also some of the stories are not completed in a proper way. Some of the stories are not given a good finishing touch and seems like Vishal is in a hurry to move to the next encounter of Susanna. But yes some of the stories have been narrated very beautifully and you will actually feel that Susanna did a right job by killing this guy.

The story is good but not developed in a proper way. For many audiences they will not have a paisa vasool feel. Acting wise everyone has done justice to their part. John looks funny in the skirt and the spaghetti top which he wears in the movie. Priyanka’s role covers the life stage of a woman from a 23 year old young lady to a 40 year old woman and she plays her part well. For me Usha Uthup was a surprise package in the movie.

I am not going to reveal the story but give a caution that go with this in mind that it’s a dark movie which has a slow pace and you might like to murder Vishal Bhardwaj at the end. Hindi mein toh Vishal Bhardwaj ka khoon karne ka mann karega.

My ratings would be 3/5 because the problems shown in the movie are genuine.

BTW those who have seen the movie and trying to figure out the seventh murder which Susanna does or rather I would say first one then it’s the dog which kills when she is young.

P.S. Do share your views about the movie. Enjoy :-)

Review of Yeh Saali Zindagi

Yeh Saali Zindagi the name sounds interesting. The story though is not that interesting still there are few scenes which will make you appreciate the creativity of Sudhir Mishra. The scenes like Irfan Khan taking the finger prints of a dead body on a stamp paper; Sudhir Mishra really has that criminal mind or maybe there is a criminal helping him out with innovative ways of committing crime :-)

The bullet scene fascinated me. The way bullet instead of hitting Chote; hits the railing and finally strikes Irfan is shot in an interesting way. Oh yes I also enjoy the way the movie starts with the animation.

Songs are good but when it comes to the movie I found them to be a misfit. Some songs made the movie slow. If songs were not there it would not have made much difference.

Irfan Khan as Arun is his usual self in the movie. We have seen him play similar role but still he does it well. His love interest in the movie Priti played by Chitrangda Singh has done a good job. Aditi Rao Hydari who plays Shanti in the movie lacks gravity or maybe her character sketch is defined in such a way. I didn’t enjoy her acting and her scenes with Kuldeep played by Arunoday Singh are weak. As such Arunoday Singh has done justice to his role but as I pointed out his love/anger/hatred scenes with Aditi Rao Hydari are not that intense. The only thing intense between them is the kissing :-D

Over all I enjoyed the movie. There is a lot of talks about the abuses (galiyan) used in the movie but I guess this much abuses were used in Omkara also so I didn’t find it something new or different. Also we cant expect criminals to talk with vinamrata (politeness). Bole toh criminals gaaliya toh use karege hi.

Not a great movie but sure can be watched once. My ratings 2.5/5

Yeh Saali Zindagi ko samjh jaate toh saali zindagi jeene ka maza nahi rehta. Saali zindagi jaisi hai achi hai :-)

Review of Guzaarish

Guzaarish has a different flavor to add to life. The movie is about quadriplegic filling a petition of mercy killing or euthanasia in court. But on human grounds the court cancels his pledge and says our culture doesn’t permit mercy killing.

Hrithik plays the role of quadriplegic who once was the biggest magician but an accident changed his life and he became a vegetable; a person whose whole body is paralyzed. So the character Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik Roshan) has lost his sensation and control over his limbs and torso but his mind is still alive, active and thinking. For the past 14 years his life is limited to his bedroom and his caretaker Sofia D'Souza (Ashwarya Rai). Sofia is the person who gives bath to Ethan; changes his dress; gives him food; feeds him food. There is a silent love story which exists between Ethan and Sofia; an emotional bond which has developed and in this love Sofia is ready to do anything; be it reliving Ethan from the pains and sufferings.

Devyani Dutta (Shernaz Patel) is the lawyer of Ethan who files his petition of mercy killing in court but the court rejects his petition. Sofia and Ethan’s doctor, Dr. Nayak (Suhel Seth) are not happy with the idea of Ethan’s pledge for mercy killing. Ethan’s mother Isabel Mascarenhas (Nafisa Ali) says the same thing that even though she has given birth to Ethan she cannot say that she has the right on his life; infact as a mother for her watching her son in pain for past 14 years is a bigger torture than to release his from the pain forever.

Omar Siddiqui (Aditya Roy Kapoor) wishes to learn the magic tricks from Ethan and become the best magician of the world. Omar is the son of Yasser Siddiqui (Ash Chandler); the person because of whom Ethan is today paralyzed.

The movie is good and raises many questions like is it right for someone to ask for death; should death be granted to one quadriplegic when there are so many more like him; for how long can the loved ones see the pain and let the person live on machines. The movie is an emotional drama where many scenes will rip you apart and fill your eyes with tears.

Ethan’s character is shown as strong, jovial, fun loving with good sense of humor. The most touching scene for me is when Ethan’s mother Isabel comes for trial and she says if she had the choice she would take her son’s life away and relief him from pain. Another scene which made me cry was when one night it starts raining and a water drop starts hitting Ethan’s forehead; there is no one to help him and Ethan cant move on his own. The scene where Ethan cant vent out his anger and asks Sofia to vent out his anger will really make you think once why should such a person be alive who cannot do anything on his own; cant even vent out his anger and lead a life like a vegetable.

The chemistry between Hrithik and Ashwarya is good and the silent love story between them is really beautiful. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has tried to bring a very good topic infront of Indian audience. But the movie is such that only when a person will get involved and understand the pain of Ethan will like the movie. Its definitely not meant for those audience who go for movies for timepass, passing comments and having fun; its for a more serious audience. So if you plan to watch this movie then go with a mindset to feel the movie.

I like the songs Sau gram zindagi sung by Kunal Ganjawala and also Tera zikr hai sung by Rakesh Pandit and Shail Handa. Bas itni si guzaarish sung by K.K. and Shail Handa will hopefully register in the minds of audience and the guzaarish would be accepted by the masses.

Over all a good movie but again I will say it is not meant for every audience and if you are not in a serious bent of mind then please don’t watch the movie as you will not like it. My ratings for the movie is 3.8/4.

P.S. I hope Sanjay comes out from black effect and fills up some beautiful colors to his movies.

Review of Anjaana Anjaani

Anjaana Anjaani is a movie about 2 strangers Aakash (Ranbir Kapoor) and Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) who are trying to commit suicide but every time they are unsuccessful. Aakash has a big loss in business and not just he but his partners also have to face the consequence and this is a reason for his losing hope in life. Kiara has the age old problem of heart break i.e. boyfriend ditching her and having good time with other ladies. After 5-6 unsuccessful suicidal attempts Aakash and Kiara decide on a day when they will commit suicide and till then they would enjoy life; enjoy each day as it is the last day of life. By the end they fall in love and rather than dieing together and ending their life they decide to live together.

The story definitely is not that impressive and interesting. The good thing about the movie is that it moves fast and keeps the audience engaged. The songs are good and given by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani. Anjaana Anjaani title track is definitely my favourite and I also like the song Tu Na Jaane Aas Pass Hai Khuda. Thanks to Priyanka and Ranbir because of whom the movie becomes a little tolerable. I must admit Ranbir is looking hot in the movie. About Priyanka I am sure men will be a better judge of her beauty. :-)

The movie does try to give a good message that don’t get disheartened with failures in life but still lacks a lot in story. My ratings for the movie: 2/5

Statutory Warning: Don’t apply logic while watching the movie and don’t try any of the suicidal methods shown in the movie.

At the end all the best to all those who plan to watch the movie and to those who have already seen I understand your pain. :-)

Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is the sequel of Wall Street and it has come at the right time. The first part showed that Gordon Gekko’s (Michael Douglas) greed took him to the jail. In the second part he has come out of jail and written a book. The book is titled Is Greed Good?Greed is good. Greed is right. Greed works. How everyone in today’s world has become greedy. And is greed a reason for recession. The movie shows how recession changes the lives of people. How moral values and ethics has taken a back seat in business. And the biggest question of all is money the biggest asset one posses?

These are the things which left me ponder about after watching the movie. The speech of Gordon Gekko about greed is really wonderful. Something which will surely make the audience clap. Parallel greed and recession there is another story going on about Gordon Gekko, his daughter and her boyfriend. Winnie Gekko (Carey Mulligan) hates her father Gordon Gekko and holds him responsible for her brother’s death. But her boyfriend, Jake Moore (Shia LaBeouf), feels that Winnie is actually missing her father and he wants her to get united with her father.

In the meantime Jake’s mentor, Louis Zabel (Frank Langella), commits suicide. Jake feels Bretton James (Josh Brolin), the head of Churchill Schwartz firm, responsible for Zabel’s death. Bretton said that he will buy the shares of Zabel’s Banking Institution at two dollars or else Zabel will go bankrupt. Zabel could not take the fact that the share prices have gone down from $79 per share to $2 per share and he finally committed suicide. James thinks of taking revenge and he thinks of taking help from Gordon. Winnie warns him and tells him to stay away from Gordon but James feels Gordon is a good man. After all Gordon has realized greed is not good but is it really true the way he has shown it to the world? Or is there some greed still left in him? To what extent can one go in greed?

The movie has been directed by Oliver Stone and written by Allan Loeb, Stephen Schiff. The best thing of the movie is editing David Brenner, Julie Monroe. Also the music is good and is given by Craig Armstrong.

At last I would say it would be a treat for girls to watch Shia LaBeouf especially while he is riding a bike or in a biker suit. :-) My overall rating for the movie 4/5.

P.S. Inception is still the best movie of the year I have watched so far.

Review of Inception

Inception means a beginning of something new. In this movie it’s a building of a new world built by a dreamer. The world which a dreamer builds is a part of sub conscious and how the people in the sub conscious react if there is a change in the sub conscious world. But the question is how long can one live in dream. Also the question is can one have dream inside a dream. Well this movie revolves around the dream world and also about the consequence as to what happens if a person believes that the reality is a dream but a dream is reality. Sounds confusing???

Well its something like imagine a person who has been sleeping since the time television was not there and suddenly he gets up and sees a television around him. The television which he will see around him will look to him as a dream. I m not sure but definitely I found the movie to be interesting enough to give me such a thought. This movie gave me many weird ideas and thoughts.

Awesome movie of finding answers related to life through dreams i.e. sub conscious. 4 levels of dreams which means dream inside a dream till fourth level. Imagine you loved a person and you could be a part of the sub conscious mind of the person. You could know what the person likes and dislikes well dont you think life would have been easier ;-). Also in an over night dream you can live your entire life. An idea of dream fascinated me but more than me fascinated the writer of the movie Christopher Nolan.

Christopher Nolan is also the director of the movie. The star cast of the movie includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, Dileep Rao, Tom Berenger, Michael Caine.

If you are fascinated by dreams and you also want to have some weird and crazy thoughts then do go and watch Inception. A must watch movie. My ratings for the movie 4.5/5

Review of I Hate Luv Storys

I hate luv storys is like any other bollywood love story where a girl meets guy; girl doesn’t like the guy and both are diametrically opposite; but they fall in love but the guy is not ready to believe it that he also loves the girl; the girl leaves him and goes with another guy; but the guy finally realizes her importance in life. The boy in this movie is Imran Khan and the girl in this movie is Sonam Kapoor. This concept was used long ago in Choti Si baatstarring Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha, Ashok Kumar and Asrani with a twist instead of the guy being confused the girl was confused. Then we got to see the same concept in the famous Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayege in the first half of the movie. More perfect movies in the past made on this concept will beDil Chahta Hai and Hum Tum. I guess even Judai can be based on the same concept. Anyways I hope you got the crux of the movie.

But still I found it interesting and enjoyed myself watching the movie. I laughed out loud during the whole movie; thanks to Kavin Dave who plays Imran’s friend in the movie and some bollywood scenes and scenarios from the past movies some of which I mentioned above.

What people might not have liked about the movie? Well the fact that how dare a Karan Johar Production movie make fun of most people’s favorite bollywood romantic movies (these movies included even some scenes from Karan Johar’s own movie especially Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum).

You thought the movie didn’t make any sense then maybe you are lucky not to be in a long distance relation. We are so use to relating distance only with a girl and boy that we forget the very first relation where we step out and a distance is created. A distance with parents and we often become home sick. The importance of any and every relation is understood only when there is a moment of missing someone. So for me I didn’t find it weird the idea that Imran realized his love only when Sonam was not around him. Again I liked the idea of Sonam proposing, rejected and rejecting. Well I hope today’s generation girls are this strong and that soft, tender, gentle, emotional fool tag is removed from girls. Again if you love someone and you realize that someone likes the other person I am sure you would politely leave the path so that your someone is always happy. Now if your someone is really in love with you be sure s/he will definitely come back to you.

You could not understand what I have written in the blog; even I could not understand but just wanted to say I liked the movie and could actually relate to the real world and real people like you and me. J

The background score and music of the movie is really good. My personal favorite is the title track of the movie.

My ratings for the movie would be 3.2/5. Go with a light mood and good company of people I am sure you would enjoy the movie. J

Review of Karthik Calling Karthik

The writer, director and actors of the movie Karthik Calling Karthik had already claimed that in this movie there is no ghost. Now since there is no ghost then there should be a live person named Karthik who is calling Karthik. Have you ever tried calling from your number to your same number from which you dialed? If not try out and you will get a busy tone or an operator message that the “number you are trying to reach is currently busy”. In the movie Karthik’s phone did ring and he did hear his voice and speak to himself on phone. Thinking how is it possible well that is the suspense of the story.

The twists and turns given in the movie are good and way the secrets of the calls is revealed is wonderful. The way Karthik proposes Sonali is beautiful. Infact the chemistry between Farhan and Deepika is good. Farhan has yet again proved that he is a good actor. Deepika looked beautiful in the movie. She did justice to her role. A well written script delivered beautifully. My ratings for the movie will 3.5/5

Still wondering how can a person call himself/herself on the same number? After watching the movie I tried sending a voice message to myself and guess what I got to hear my voice at the other end on my mobile. Try out and have fun watching the movie. :-)

Review of Wake Up Sid

Almost everyone must have heard or read that Wake Up Sid is a story of a boy completing his final year at college with no aim in life. One can say Sidharth Mehra or Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) is a brat whose every demand is fulfilled by his father (Anupam Kher) and mother (Supriya Pathak). The only thing he knows about life is to have fun, shop, party, eat at a road side dhaba with friends. Those things which everyone would have done during college days. Things like having night outs before exams. On his college farewell he meets Aisha (Konkana Sen) who has a aim in life.

Aisha who has travelled all the way from Kolkata to Mumbai. A girl who wants to have a job, who wants to earn her living. Aisha is the person who wishes to spend her own money for partying, for the masti of life. Someone who wants to become self-independent. One can say that she is just the opposite of Sid. Oops forgot to tell about college friends of Sid, Laxmi (Shikha Talsania) and Rishi (Namit Das). Laxmi is an obese girl who plans to diet in the start of the day but by the end of the day she fails to follow her diet chart. She is the girl who will start checking the exam paper after the exam is over. I am sure many people would have across such a person who would start looking at the mistakes made in the exam paper immediately after the exam. Rishi is a close friend of Sid, who loves a girl in college and plans to propose her for marriage. But Sid doesn’t understand the need to become serious about anything in life. Serious about marriage, about exams, about working at office.

Then one day things change in Sid’s life. The day when he fails in the college exam and all his friends pass. The day when his parents especially his father get angry over him and ask him to leave the house. The day when he joins Aisha in her flat. Aisha who has got a job in one of the Mumbai’s magazine and who is attracted to her boss, Rahul Khanna. Few more differences are there between Aisha and Sid. Aisha is the kind of girl who keeps her room clean while Sid is far away from cleanliness. Sid is a guy who leaves in a mess. Since Aisha loves a clean room, after coming back to home every night she cleans up the mess created by Sid. She keeps saying to Sid that you are a boy not a man. She keeps saying that Sid when will you grow up. Slowly and slowly Sid starts getting transformed. He starts keeping the room clean.

Aisha helps Sid in making him an intern at her office for the photographs section. Sid gets a chance to convert his hobby, his passion into work. A boy who never studied college books and failed has started studying the assignments given to him. A boy who ran away from his father’s office in a week after joining the office is now completely involved in his work. Aisha who is a good writer but in the office she is no more than a person who serves coffee and cleans her boss’s room. But this doesn’t stop her from writing a story, a story about her and Sid. Aisha who always thought she will never fall in love with a boy but a man, a man like her boss. A man who would love jazz and who would take her to boring parties of big people.

Will Aisha fall in love with a kid like Sid? Will Sid be able to go back to his home and face his father again? Will Sid be able to eat the food made by his mom? I know you people would have guessed the answer but to know how all this happens watch the movie. A movie about today’s generation which doesn’t love to wear a formal dress to office but has to wear it because of dress code. A generation which loves to eat pizza, a generation which shops with a credit card, eats with a credit card. About people who want to be carefree but in a course of time they realize that they need to get serious in life. Serious about work, love and marriage.

Script written by Ayan Mukerji and Niranjan Iyengar. Directed by Ayan Mukerji. A wonderful script delivered beautifully. Good job done by all the actors in the movie. Lovely music and they already in the chartbusters. I am sure the music would have started rocking the people. Not a very long movie and no melodrama. No rona dhona, no emotional atyachar at any point in the movie be it scenes when Sid leaves the house or when he fails in the college. Reactions shown as it could happen to the real people. Well defined character sketch and not a crowd of characters which can make a movie confusing.

My ratings for the movie 3.8/5. Do watch out the movie, I am sure people will get connected and like it. :-)

Review of Main aur Mrs. Khanna

This Diwali in the theatre Main aur Mrs. Khanna boarded. But the movie is not so happening that one should go and watch it out. I am sure the movie will be saying alvida to the movie halls soon. From these lines you must have understood that the movie is really pathetic. There is no story line. Seems like all the actors had nothing to do so just they shot some scenes. Added all the scenes and called it a movie. Acting wise this would be the worst movie I would have seen this year.

The movie which claims to show extra-marital affair will make the audience think first tell us where is the affair then we will look for the extra dose of affair. Salman Khan plays the role of Samir Khanna whose wife Mrs. Khanna has been played by Kareena Kapoor. Aakash (Sohail Khan) likes Kareena Kapoor. Well that is all I could get from the movie. They have tried to break a suspense with Aakash’s title but I am sure no one will be able to get it even after the movie is over.

It is a small movie made for just 2 hours but 15 minutes is enough to torture people. Go watch the movie at your risk.

My rating for the movie 1/5.

Review of Love Aaj Kal

For those who have seen the movie Love Aaj Kal, I don’t know whether they will agree with me or not. But here are my views about the movie. To get a gist of the movie just read the last 4 paragraph.

Past and present shown together but it really didn’t take me of my seats and made me feel wow this is really great. A feeling I had after I had seen RDB. Yes first I would compare the movie with RDB because both had the similar concept showing how past and present and interrelated. How learning’s from the past can still be used in present. But in this movie that flavor was missing. The past and the present looked disjoint and past abruptly emerged up in the present.

For me neither the past has been shown that well nor the present. I liked the idea of celebrating the break up. But here the case is that both of them wanted to break up so celebrating it is really not a problem. What if the break up is one sided, anyways movie was not concentrating on that.

Another thing I liked was the idea that even after break up they decide to be friends and be in touch through calls, mails, chats. Thanks to technology that people can be in touch with their loved ones. :-)

The role of this Punjabi kudi is played Harleen Kaur who is a Brazilian model. She looks stunning in the Indian attire and I am sure no one will be able to make out that this girl is not an Indian. Thankfully she didn’t have to wear saree. I mean its tough for we the, Indian girls to wear saree and carry it out whole day on an everyday basis, I don’t know how she would have felt on wearing the saree. But still she rocked in the salwar kameez attire also. :)

Even if I leave all the logics and think about the story for me there is a big miss in the movie. The story could have been much more better. For me more hype has been created than actually the movie is worth for. The past has ruined the present also. It would have been better if the director concentrated only on the present rather than showing present.

Now talking about the acting of various persons then I would say Saif was far better in Hum Tum. Deepika is too plain in her character, though agree with her that she has a beautiful smile but with a smile only I cant say a person is a good actress. Giselle Monteiro has not been given a very long role but she looks good in her role. I would appreciate her for dancing in the song of ‘La La La ho gayi re’ especially with a lip sync in it. Rishi Kapoor has done justice with his role. Rahul Khana has done whatever is required from his role so in his short role I would say that he is good. Florence Brudenell-Bruce who played Jai’s girlfriend role is ok sorts, not too good or bad.

About the songs of the movie, I would say that I enjoyed them listening on my lappy or tv more than in the movie itself. Though ‘Chor Bazari’ is my personal favourite number from the movie. Even the choreography of the song Chor Bazari is good. Other songs which I like are ‘Yeh Dooriyan’, ‘Aaj Din Chadiyan’, ‘Aahuan Aahuan’ and ‘Twist’ in the sequence. After a longtime got to see nagin dance in the song ‘Twist’.

I think I have covered all the aspects of the movie. Many people have compared this movie with Jab We Met but I don’t see any comparison between both the movies. both the movies have been made differently and offcourse Jab We Met is better than Love Aaj Kal. As I had heard in the review on Zoom for this movie that since no good movies are getting released and its better than the current generation of movies getting released it has been rated 3/5.

My overall rating for the movie would be 2/5. One time watch with friends but not alone. All the best to all those who plan to watch the movie. Hope you enjoy the movie. :)

Review of Kaminey

Kaminey is the latest venture of Vishal Bhardwaj to entertain the audiences. The star cast of movie comprises of Shahid Kapur in double role as Charlie and Guddu. Charlie's love in the move is the race course while Guddu's love interest is Sweety played by Priyanka Chopra. Sweety's politician brother, Bhope Bhai (Amol Gupte), full-blooded Marathi manoos wants his sister to marry an influential builder for political mileage. He is villain number one in the movie. Yes we have one more villain.

Oh forgot to tell Charlie has a problem woh fa ko fa bolta hai. Now you people will say woh toh hum bhi bolte hain. Well actually he has the believe that to be successful there are 2 ways one is fhortcut (shortcut) while the other one is chota fhorcut. I hope now you would have got his problem. Guddu also has one small problem and that is he stammers. Charlie and Guddu are twin brothers but they hate each other.

Charlie has partners along with whom he bets in the race course. Mujeeb (Deb Mukherjee), Sumon (Rajatabha Dutta) and Mikhail (Chandan Roy Sanyal) are his partners. Charlie gets lucky when he finds 100 (fau) packets of drugs. His plan is to sell the drugs and earn good money. But the villain number two is waiting for these drug packets. Taashi (Tenzing Nima), the person whose drugs are with Charlie. Taashi is getting drugs from anti-narotics officers Lele (Hrishikesh Joshi) and Lobo (Shivkumar Subramaniam).

Shahid Kapur has done a great job of portraying both the characters in the movie. This is his best performance till date. Having different lingo, attitude and style for both the characters and he has done it perfectly. Priyanka Chopra looks a perfect Maharastrian in the movie. I love it when she fights for her love. One can say that she is the third hero of the movie. I loved Amol Gupte as Bhope Bhai and also Chandan Roy Sanyal as Mikhail.

Music is awesome. All the songs are really good. My personal favourite is dhan tan tanaa for sure. I also love the song fatak, it has a really good social message for the public. The expressions in the song raat ke dhai baje has been portrayed beautifully. The romantic song of the movie pehli baar mohabat ki hai is also rocking the charts.

Compliments also to

· The writer-director of the movie Vishal Bhardwaj for the script and direction.
· The editor of the movie Meghna Manchanda Sen should be complimented especially for the scene where a fight sequence is shown between both the brothers. Over all mixing of the movie is also good.
· The costume designer for giving a short sleeves dresses body hugging dresses to Charlie where Shahid looks muscular while lose long sleeves clothes to Guddu making him look weaker.

Shahid looks awesome in the scene where he is running with the horses. The effort put in by everyone is really commendable and I am sure their hard work will definitely be acknowledged by the audience.

My ratings for the movie:- 3.5/5. Do go and watch the movie in your nearest cinema halls, I am sure you will not regret it. Aife aife kaife kaife, kaife kaife aife aife audience ko movie dekhna chaiye. Pura paifa vafool timepaff movie hai. Fa ka effect abhi kuch din rahega aur Shahid ka bhi. :-)

Review of New York

First let me congratulate the writer Sandeep Srivastava for coming up with such a nice script. And then the team of Yash Raj Films i.e. the producer Aditya Chopra for showing his guts to produce this movie and the director Kabir Khan for directing a movie on such a controversial topic.

Now you must be wondering why it is controversial. Well then let me tell you I never thought Indian film makers had the guts to make a movie showing negativity against America. The first thing that came to my mind was 'Wow how could they dare to do such a thing'. And the next thing was how have the American audience reacted to it. I enjoyed it and felt good that at least the movie has used the freedom of speech in a good way. We should remember no country is perfect.

Acting wise everyone has done a good job. Irfan Khan as usual has proved that he is a good actor. It was good to see Neil Nitin Mukesh do a justice with his role. I was really disappointed with him after watching 'Aa Dekhe Zara'. John Abraham has learnt a lot in acting and the improvement could be seen in this movie. Last but not the least, the woman who is really becoming a lucky charm for directors and producers, Katrina Kaif. In this movie Katrina has played a very different kind of role. And I must say she has done a good job. She is not there to do time pass and romance with John but there is more substance to her role.

Now let me tell you why I said what would Americans feel about the movie. Well because the movie has shown the torture on people after 9/11 because of their religion. People who were caught by FBI and detained from the right to live. But after all the torture when these people are released because of lack of evidence, it turns the person either into a sadist or a terrorist. Why so because after they come out their confidence is shattered. They are looked down by the people as if they are criminal and it becomes hard for them to have a normal life and get a job. It was disgusting to see the cops urinate over the face of these detained people and leave them like that. The torture shown in the movie made me feel sad. Also made me feel how a normal, lively person can chose the wrong path.

One dialogue which Irfan said that choosing terrorism cant be justified in anyway. Well yes it cant be but if a person is shattered like the way shown in the movie, s/he in an imperfect mental state can chose any path. The people in the system should think on how they don’t make a normal person a criminal. And if such a thing happens then somehow the person will try to take revenge. Fight back against the system and for such a person it really doesn’t matter whether it is the right thing or not. As for why I said Katrina has more substance to her role because when John is shattered because of the torture in the FBI cell after his release from the FBI cell, Katrina stands by his side and tries to boost his confidence. I really loved the scene where Katrina gets down on her knees and proposes John to marry her. Well that is what is love all about, being by the side of your partner even when s/he is having a bad patch in her/his life.

I felt bad for Katrina being killed at the end. Actually could not understand the reason for that. Well maybe the writer didn’t want to show that Katrina started hating Neil because of him John was killed. And wanted a little better ending by showing Neil adopting the child and forgiving Irfan. I am not the writer or a crew member of the movie so cant really predict the reason for that kind of an ending. But still I found the ending a little weird and funny. I was wondering that Irfan held Neil and didn’t let him move from his place but no one grabbed Katrina. It was somewhat funny. After all she was not the terrorist. I hope someone can give a reason for the way Katrina is killed in the movie. :-)

I am not sharing the story of the movie. Do watch the movie. I liked it and I am sure those who have not seen it yet will also like it. The music has already been rocking the charts. I loved all the songs especially Mere Sang and Tune Jo Na Kaha.

If it was a little better then it could have definitely been a kind of story to be a part of Oscar nominations. Anyways the message it has given almost everyone must have got it.

My ratings for the movie would be 4/5 and definitely a deserved hit.

Review of Dev D

I know I am a little late in talking about the movie, Dev D. But finally this weekend I saw this movie.

Let me talk about the movie. I liked the movie because the things shown in the movie are happening in today's world. Directed by Anurag Kashyap. Abhay Deol did justice as an actor in the role of Dev D. Even the girl who played Chanda (Kalki Koechlin) was good. The girl who played Paro (Mahi Gill) was also not bad.

A modern day story has been shown where neither Dev nor Paro understand what is love. Dev is studying in UK while Paro stays in India. They might be talking to each other everyday or rather chatting everyday but Dev wants to have a look on the physical appearance of Paro. When I say physical that means Dev wants to see Paro without any dress on her body. Paro also doesnt mind showing Dev what he has asked for. Dev is back to India but even after coming back to India he just wants to sleep with Paro. But he never gets a chance to sleep with Paro and before he could do anything a guy makes stories about Paro. The guy says to Dev that Paro is very smart and knows how to take a man to bed. Dev and Paro don’t give time in understanding each other. If they did so then Dev wont have believed this guy who actually lied about Paro.

Dev just wanted to sleep with a girl and at that time only he meets Rasika. Yes they do sleep with each other. When Paro asks him about this, he smiply says what she does with other men he has doing the same thing. I like the dialogue when Paro says to him "Tu kare toh sahi aur main karu toh galat" (Translation-If you sleep with someone its right but if I sleep with someone then its wrong). After somedays Rasika's brother approaches Paro's parents for marriage. She agrees to marry him. In the mean time Dev realises that he was wrong about Paro but still he never goes back to her and says a sorry to her. Paro is married to Rasika's brother and moves to Delhi.

After all this there is entry of Chanda. She is a 12th standard girl. But poor girl's life is destroyed by an mms. Remember some years back there was news of a Delhi School Girl mms. I have not seen it but it was very big news. Because it involved two 12th standard student who were having sex. The boy made the mms where only the girl’s face was visible.

Anyways coming back to the story. The same thing has happened with Chanda. Because of the mms her father commits suicide. Her family keeps cursing her. Her friends part their ways. Some of them must have also done what Chanda did in the mms. But Chanda is called a slut because her mms was made. After all this she becomes a Commercial Sex Worker. Alongwith this Chanda gives her board exams and gets into a college.

After Paro's marriage Dev also moves to Delhi and try to meet her. He meets Rasika once again but Rasika leaves him saying that he only wants to fuck. One late night Dev makes a call at Paro's house and asks her husband that he wants to talk to her. But he is not able to talk to her. The next day Paro comes to Dev's place. She looks at the place and its in a mess. She starts cleaning the house. Dev says that he loves her and wants to make love to her. But Paro is not able to reciprocate the same feelings. Dev asks her why did she come if her husband satisfied her so much. To which Paro says "Tumhein tumhari aukat dikhane aayi thi" (Translation-Wanted to show you your value).

After this Dev starts meeting Chanda and Chanda falls in love with him. Chanda tells her story as to how she got into this profession. Well in the end Dev realises that he is in love with Chanda and they both come together. This idea of climax is good.

The movie will come under adult's category. And yes this movie cannot be definitely watched with family. Songs in the movie are good, especially Emosonal Atyachar. Songs blend nicely with the flow of story. Many people might not like it and would think what rubbish has been shown. But I must say all the things shown in the movie are happening in today's generation. Thanks to internet which has made such things more easy.

Most people say that the movie shows heartbroken hero Devdas in the modern context. But if you give a thought it talks about love which is not about sleeping together but understanding each other. Trusting, having faith and being there not only in happiness but also in sorrow.

My Ratings:- 3/5 (Because the message it wants to show is not clear)

Review of 13B

Star cast of 13B: R Madhavan, Neetu Chandra, Sachin Khedekar, Murli Sharma, Poonam Dhillon, Deepak Dobriyal, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Sanjaih Bokaria

In the movie there are ghosts but for me the movie is not scary. The movie has been put up in a category of horror but for me the movie is a suspense thriller. A completely new and different concept is the catch of the movie. There are no ugly faces or brutal killing shown in the movie.

Humans have advanced technically so have the ghosts. Communication through letters has advanced to e-mail. Landline telephones have been replaced by mobiles. So has the way ghosts make contacts with real world has been advanced. In the movie the ghosts make contact with the real world through television.

Today's world has become so addictive to television that it has become a part of life. But imagine whatever is being shown in the TV starts happening with you - be it a good thing or a bad thing. Something like this happens with Madhvan and his family. There is a TV serial 'Sab Khariyat Hai' shown in the movie. Whatever is shown in the serial happens with Madhvan's family.

The first thing will come in mind why is it happening with their family. By the time this suspense is revealed you will have something more to think about. The question would be who killed those innocent people and why have they been killed. In the 2 hours the way the suspense has been created till the end is really interesting.

There is a scene where Madhvan has invited a blind man to his house. When his glass falls down and his eyes are shown is really scary. Except for the 2 songs in the movie one will be completely engrossed in the movie. But its a Bollywood movie and without songs a Bollywood movie is incomplete.

Number 13 still continues to be used as an unlucky number. But personally I dont know which number is lucky or unlucky for me. I am not giving the story because the movie should be watched atleast once. Also I dont want to break the suspense. :-)

My Rating: 3.5/5

Few questions to be answered by you people:

Do you believe in ghosts? If yes, any scary experience? If no, then why not? If yes and never met then how do you plan to meet the ghost in the modern time?

Review of Slumdog Millionaire

I must say an awesome movie. First let me compliment the person who wrote the story, Vikas Swarup. The novel and the movie is based on a concept of a uneducated young guy from slums participating in a show called Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. He is one question away from winning 2 million dollars when police takes him into custody winning the money by cheating. This guy tells his story as to how to every question he knows the answer.

I am not revealing the complete story becuase those who have not seen it must watch it once. The twist and turn associated with every question is great. I liked the acting of the child actors Ayush Mahesh Khedekar who played the role of Jamal Mallick and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail as the elder brother Salim Mallick. Irfan Khan as police inspector and Saurabh Shukla as constable have played their part really well. For Anil Kapoor as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire I would say he could have played his part much better.

Dev Patel who plays the role of the contestant Jamal Mallick on the hot seat of the show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, looks good in the last scene where he has worn the blue dress. (This is my personal view:-)). Acting wise he has done a great job. All the other actors are also good.
My personal favourite scene is when Arvind, a slum boy turned into beggar, gives details about the 100 dollar note to Jamal.

At last hats of to the director of the movie Danny Boyle who has done a greta job with direction. And yes also loads of applaud for the music director A R Rehman for giving a good background score and a really nice song.

Finally I would say lets not shout that the movie has shown slums, poverty and potraited a dirty India. Rather love the way the movie has been made and enjoy the same.

Review of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Didnt like the movie much but there were some parts which I cant forget. Anushka Sharma looked good with the kind of role given to her. Shahrukh has started looking old now. Especially when he plays the cool dude Raj he looks really buddha.

The first thing I liked about the film was even though Tanni has married Shahni without being in love with him, she tries to be a caring wife. Making breakfast, giving him lunch box. Seeking his permission for going to the dancing school. She had married Shahni with her wish whatever be the situation and had no rights to be upset with the marriage.

I love the scene when Anushka rides the bike. Also like the song Phir Milege Chalte Chalte. Kajol looks beautiful in the song. Ending is good especially the honeymoon photographs of Japan.

P.S. If you plan to watch the movie keep your brain at home.

P.S. Dont apply logic in the movie.

All the best for the movie. :)

At the end would like to say Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke Phir Milege Chalte Chalte.

Review of Ghajini

This movie has a bit of romance, comedy, action and tragedy. This is a complete thriller package. The songs in the movie fit with the story and are really good. A.R. Rehman has again done a good job with the music. I love the lyrics of Gujarish, Bhekha main bheka and Kaisey mujhe. The lyrics has been given by Prason Joshi. The choreography of the song Guzarish is plain and simple and it really suits the song. It was the Choreographer Ahmed Khan’s idea to shoot the song with 6 different looks of Aamir. Written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss. I have not seen the tamil movie but the direction of this movie is good. A.R. Murugadoss has tried to bring out the best performance from all the actors. Editor Anthony does a good job with the editing of the film.

Now let me talk about the stars of the movie. Aamir has again given one of the finest performance and made the year to end on a good note for bollywood. His heroine in the movie Asin has also matched up to Aamir caliber. Her acting skills are too good in the scene when villains are in her house to kill her. The fear of death on her face looks real. The villain of the movie, Pradeep Rawat should take away the award for the best actor in villainous role. Jiah Khan was better than Nisabdh but wont say that she has done wonders in the movie.

At an age of 40+ also age has not shown on Aamir and his physique in the movie looks awesome. He doesn’t look old like Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Aamir is really a perfectionist and gets into the character to give his best. But he is a human being only and so forgot that he is left handed person. The scene in which he signs the cheque is in right hands. Everything else is just perfect and he is awesome. I became a big fan of Aamir after Sarfarosh and so as a fan I ignore this small mistake. :)

I have spoken about various aspects of the movie so lets have a sneak peak into the story of the movie. If you have not watched the movie then also do go and watch the movie even after reading the story. Because the cinematography is really good and to know that you should watch it once. Oh the cinematographer of the movie is Ravi K. Chandran.

Kids below the age of 15 should not watch this movie because there are some violent scenes which can affect their minds. Especially the one in which Kalpana is killed. When she was trying to contact Sanjay I wished that why didn’t she message him. It was much more safer. I felt bad that she tried to do something good for someone and what she got at the end was a cold blooded death. I guess that is why no one in India helps others. When will people like Ghajini get a lesson? But people above 18 go out and watch the movie. You will definitely enjoy it. :)

My rating for the movie would be 3.5/5.

Review of Rock On

Farhan Akhtar has proved that he is not just a good director but a good actor and also a singer. But I didnt like the movie much. Maybe the hype created for the movie was too big and I was expecting a lot more.

4 guys (Arjun Rampal as Joe, Purab Kohli as KD, Luke Kenny as Rob and Farhan Akhtar as Aditya) wish to become a rockstar. They go for a rock contest and win it. They get a contract of 8 songs. One soft melody is written by Joe and is dedicated to his girlfriend Debbie(Sahana Goswami). But his song is rejected and a old song remix is put. To achieve the dreams one has to make compromise and that is what Aditya does. Agrees with the old remix song instead of the soft romatic ballad. Everyone in the group signs the contract but here is where problem starts. Aditya is the lead singer of the band. Aditya starts getting all the attention and then there is a fight between Joe and Aditya. The band splits and they go to separate paths.

Many years later Aditya’s wife, Shakshi (Prachi Desai) and KD meet in a jwellery shop and KD tells about their rock band Magik. Shakshi finds some photographs of Aditya and his rock band and decides to unite them. She throws a surprise birthday party for Aditya where she invites Aditya’s rock friend. Aditya though is not that willing to again start with rock music and has a fight with Shakshi. Shakshi is upset and leaves the house. Finally they get united and again start playing rock music. Again there is a contest. Rob is having brain tumour and he wants to play for the last time on stage. Joe’s wife asks Joe not to go for the concert and tells him to go to a cruise and earn some money.

On the day of contest Joe is on his way to his job, he hears the Magik Group playing his song. He decides to go to the concert and they whole Magik band gives their last stage performance.

Music is great. Acting is also good. But that love for rock music is missing. The intensity of rock music shown in an American comedy film, School of Rock. Do watch School of Rock and see how 10 year old kids have fun with rock music. Many other hollywood flick are there about rock music. In this movie more stress is given of relationship between the band members. The line which was said before the movie what if life gives you second chance is not shown much in the movie.

Review of U, Me aur Hum

As a director Ajay Devagan has done a good job. In the first half the story is really good. Second half drags a little but overall movie is good. A real life couple romancing on-screen was nice to see.

As you people would have read in the many of the reviews that this is the story of Ajay(Ajay Devgan), a Psychiatrist and Pia(Kajol). The story begins in a cruise where Ajay has gone with his freinds for a holiday, Nikhil(Sumeet Raghavan) and Reena(Divya Dutta) who are married unhappy couple and Vicky(Karan Khanna) and Natasha(Isha Sharwani) who are happy but not married. Nikhil and Reena both are doctors. Nikhil's mother stays with him but Reena doesnt like his mother being with them and they fight over this. Common thing in today's modern India, where couple today dont like interference of a third person, be it parents.

Natasha is a dancer and teaches dance. Vicky is her student and they are in love. Vicky wants to marry her but Natasha is not ready for a marriage but doesnt mind staying with him.

Now lets come to the people whose story has been shown. Pia, who serves drinks in the cruise. When Ajay sees her, he becomes crazy for her. They order vodka but Pia gives them tequila. Ajay keeps on ordering drinks so that Pia can keep coming and giving him drinks. After all people do crazy things with those to whom they are attracted. Ajay even makes an announcement of free drinks for all those present in the hall. He had to pay huge price for this and when next day Pia comes with the bill he is a little shocked but has to smile. But he has to really do something to impress Pia. What a fate, he gets Pia's books of possibility where Pia's likes are mentioned. Pia likes liquor chocolates and to give her the chocolates Ajay tells a lie that the chocolates are for his birthday. Pia wants to learn salsa. Ajay impresses Pia by showing how to hold the partner in salsa. Pia is impressed and wants to learn salsa from him. She gives him the time in the morning 6-11, Ajay is very happy that he will get 5 hours to spend with Pia. But before that he has to learn salsa. He goes and asks Natasha to teach him salsa. In the night he learns salsa from Natasha and in the morning he teaches salsa to Pia. In the meantime, they start discussing their likes and dislikes in life and come close to each other. Everything is fair in love and war but what if Pia comes to know Ajay lied to her. He doesnt know salsa and read her book. Well then Pia will leave him and that is what happens. But maybe Ajay's move was wrong but the way he tried to impress her was not wrong. Here the line would be apt apne rang gawaye bin mere rang mein rang jao. He was still Ajay with his likes and dislikes but also added the likes of Pia.

But did he get Pia back. Well before leaving the cruise Ajay just went to Pia's room and gave his number and told her that if she ever felt he was right she could ring him back. Ajay paints his house white and all white furniture are there because Pia's favourite color is white. Ajay gets a white labrador dog because Pia wanted a dog in the house. In the night Ajay gives a call to his friends and they rush to his house. There he is with Pia and they have decided to get married. Pia tells that whenever she thought of cruise she thought of Ajay. Pia forgives him and they are married. This marriage has a different problem.

The problem is Pia is having Alzheimer's disease, where she has memory loss sometimes. With this Pia also becomes pregnant. Ajay himself is a doctor and he knows this can lead to trouble. He decides that Pia should have an abortion but Pia comes to know about it and she wants to give Ajay a baby boy. Ajay also cant say anything and one day Pia forgets that she is pregnant and starts exercising vigorously. Ajay realizes this and stops her from exercising but when he is not around Pia can do anything. So he keeps a care taker for her. Finally she gives birth to a baby boy and Ajay says Pia knew I wanted a boy. Well they should not have stressed on this because the audience is influenced by seeing a movie. And already in India the girls/boys ratio is not good. One day Pia puts the baby in the bath tub and forgets to close the tap and the baby is drowned but Ajay at the right moment and the baby is saved. The funny part in this scene is Pia is busy watching a lizard catching its prey while the baby is crying and even the dog is barking. She has a memory loss, she is not deaf. Anyways in hindi movies one should not put logic. :D

Ajay's senior(Sachin Khedekar) who is checking Pia, has been advising Ajay to admit Pia to care hospital. Ajay always refused his advice but the day their baby was saved from the hands of death, he decides to put her into the care hospital. But he cant stay without her and he feels he is running from her responsibilities. Finally he decides to go back and bring her back to house. Pia acts as if she doesnt know him. Ajay is telling her about the wish list but he never mentioned that this list was written on a wall. He comes back and tells her that he loves her very much and wants to take her to the house. Pia goes back with him and it has been 25 years of their marriage and they have gone on the cruise. Well this was in the wish list of Pia that there 25th anniversary should be on the cruise.

My favourite scenes are the one in which Pia's childhood is shown the way it has been thought is really good. Baby drowning scene is good but is a little lengthy. The time when Pia says that she wants to be at home before Ajay reaches because she loves to open door for him is good. The way all the couples sing Yunhi Koi Mil Gaya Tha Saath Chalte Chalte. Well a little more at the end should have been shown as to how Ajay makes Pia fall in love with him everyday. But then maybe with this I would have remembered Fifty First Dates. Overall a good movie by Ajay Devgan. And really good job as a director. The music is good and lyrics of every song is awesome. I really love the title track about which I had blogged somedays back. :)

Review of Tareen Zameen Par

Story I hope everyone knows, who doesnt know the story can go and watch the movie out with freinds. :)

As a debutant director Aamir has done a good job. Many things in the movie are really good. I really liked the thing where Aamir goes to child's house and says to the parents try to find the problem first rather than looking at why it happens. We always see something is wrong but we seldom try to find the reason for that. The way Aamir takes an initiative to help Ishan Awasthi is good. People came to know about the disease named dyslexia. The disadvantage of having big classes where teacher cannot give attention to all the students. And most of the time teachers pay attention to good students. This happens every where. One who is good is made better but one who is not good is looked as a loser. The scene where Ishan's father comes to the school once and says to Aamir that we love our kid and we have found details about the disease. But doesnt love means showing it to the person concerned be it anyone. And just a simple hug is sufficient to show that you love someone. When Aamir says the same to the father, he feels really guilty. This we can see when he is leaving he sees his child but he has no courage to face the child. Ishan winning the painting competition at the end is really predictable. The scene when Ishan goes to the boarding school is emotional. Especially the song ‘Maa’ really touched people. But again not much strict rules of boarding school are shown. Like when Ishan is not in the hostel and he gets a call. When he returns the warden doesn’t punish. I guess staying away from home at such a age was sufficient as a punishment for him. It was good to show a kid with disability to top in the class. I hope with all these kids get motivated and don’t feel like being useless if they don’t succeed in life.

But for me the movie could have been better if Aamir would have shown a normal child being asked to do to much because of family pressure. Not much scolding and punishment of schools shown. A little more could have been shown related to kids problem. But atleast it gave the people to look at the problem kids are facing. :)

I hope next time a movie is not needed to open someone's eyes. But then if everything is fine then how can bollywood get the idea of making some good movies with nice messages. :)
