Review of Yeh Saali Zindagi

Yeh Saali Zindagi the name sounds interesting. The story though is not that interesting still there are few scenes which will make you appreciate the creativity of Sudhir Mishra. The scenes like Irfan Khan taking the finger prints of a dead body on a stamp paper; Sudhir Mishra really has that criminal mind or maybe there is a criminal helping him out with innovative ways of committing crime :-)

The bullet scene fascinated me. The way bullet instead of hitting Chote; hits the railing and finally strikes Irfan is shot in an interesting way. Oh yes I also enjoy the way the movie starts with the animation.

Songs are good but when it comes to the movie I found them to be a misfit. Some songs made the movie slow. If songs were not there it would not have made much difference.

Irfan Khan as Arun is his usual self in the movie. We have seen him play similar role but still he does it well. His love interest in the movie Priti played by Chitrangda Singh has done a good job. Aditi Rao Hydari who plays Shanti in the movie lacks gravity or maybe her character sketch is defined in such a way. I didn’t enjoy her acting and her scenes with Kuldeep played by Arunoday Singh are weak. As such Arunoday Singh has done justice to his role but as I pointed out his love/anger/hatred scenes with Aditi Rao Hydari are not that intense. The only thing intense between them is the kissing :-D

Over all I enjoyed the movie. There is a lot of talks about the abuses (galiyan) used in the movie but I guess this much abuses were used in Omkara also so I didn’t find it something new or different. Also we cant expect criminals to talk with vinamrata (politeness). Bole toh criminals gaaliya toh use karege hi.

Not a great movie but sure can be watched once. My ratings 2.5/5

Yeh Saali Zindagi ko samjh jaate toh saali zindagi jeene ka maza nahi rehta. Saali zindagi jaisi hai achi hai :-)
